If you are experiencing an active diabetic ulcer on your foot or lower leg, do not use the water immersion electrotherapy until it is fully healed.
You can use the photobiomodulation unit up to 3 times per day for 30 minutes each session. The photobiomodulation therapy has been shown to drastically improve the healing time of diabetic ulcerations. Taking the Alpha Lipoic Acid can also help to expedite the healing process.
Our treatment uses water immersion electrical conductivity and neuronal stimulation to get your damaged nerves to fire again. Using water immersion ensures that every neuron and nerve in the foot and lower leg are activated. During the first couple weeks you may feel little to no sensations during the treatment. Typically around the two week mark patients will start to feel sensation and tingling during the treatment. Once this sensation starts to be felt, the nerves are regenerating. Next the feet and lower leg are wrapped in a power Photobiomodulation unit which delivers multiple wavelengths of healing infrared light and this stimulates mitochondria activation to help your nerves regrow and increase circulation by helping to regrow new blood vessels that feed your nerves and tissues. The combination of these two therapies together is what produces the long term healing effects that we have seen with 1000's of our patients. Our goal is to heal the damaged nerves and restore vital circulation.
Easy!
Make sure you have set up and completed your initial virtual consultation.
Simply unpack your at home treatment kit.
Read and follow all instructions.
Set up your electro-submersion station in a comfortable setting.
Fill up the two chambers approximately half full with warm water.
Place 1/4 cup of Epsom salt in each chamber if available. This recommendation is in the additional tips.
Place one electrode pad in each chamber. Install battery and turn on TENS unit to only #1.
Slowly turn up the intensity of the TENS unit until you can feel tingling in your feet.
Once at a comfortable tingling, keep feet in the water for 30 minutes.
Once completed dry your feet, and wrap them in the provided photobiomodulaiton therapy device. Keep feet wrapped in the therapy device for 30 minutes.
Once completed perform foot rehab exercises and suggested lymphatic drainage techniques.
For best possible results follow additional suggestions for at home treatment.
Perform treatments every evening for a period of two weeks.
Schedule and complete your 2 week follow up.
Make sure the battery has been placed correctly in the unit.
Ensure the lead is firmly placed in the correct side of the unit.
Only use the dial associated with the side of the unit where the lead is plugged in.
Test the water with your hands. In some cases of neuropathy the patient may not be able to perceive the tingling for the first few days to 2 weeks. In this case do not go above setting 6 on the dial.
Ensure all connections are firmly seated.
Press the on button for no more than a second.
If the lights start to blink, unplug the unit and plug back in, then depress the on button only once.
You can use either side of the TENS unit. Plug in the electrodes to either side. Please be sure to use only the dial on the side the lead is plugged in to adjust the intensity.
This is a dead battery issue. If the unit turns on for only a second or two and then the screen goes blank please replace with a new battery and try again. If the problem persists please email our support team and we will dispatch a new TENS unit immediately!
Most patients will see results immediately having a tingling effect in their feet. Other patients it may take a couple treatments and in severe cases up to two weeks before tingling will be perceivable with the treatment. Once tingling can be perceived with the treatments, you will begin to feel changes in your feet outside of the treatment. This should start with a slight buzzing or tingling sensation that may come and go, or last all day. In some cases you may begin to feel an aching or burning in the feet. This sensation is your nerves working backwards from the damage of the neuropathy. The typical progression of neuropathy goes from a tingling buzzing sensation, to a more burning fiery pain, to partial and then full numbness. Once treatment begins patients should start to experience these same sensations but in reverse.

If your light therapy device only stays on for 20 minutes, please turn back on for the additional 10 minutes. Some units were manufactured without the 30 minute time frame. Please use the Photobiomodulation therapy for a full 30 minutes for the first 30 days.
That is a very good question. When designing our treatment protocol in the early days we did try the light therapy slippers and yes they did work, they could even be used on the hands. BUT, they were limited to the hands or feet. Utilizing a pad allows a patient to wrap the legs, arms, or even use it for low back pain. Making the light therapy pad much more versatile than the light therapy slippers!
Please use caution when using the TENS unit, more electrical sensation is not better. Only turn the unit up until you can feel a tingling sensation, and keep it at a level that is comfortable for you. More intense is not better. If you do not feel any tingling, and are sure the unit is working, DO NOT exceed level 4. Within two weeks you will begin to feel the tingling and be able to increase to tolerance as the nerves repair and regenerate their ability to conduct electrical impulses again.
